Pullman is a totally preserved Victorian community that has been a national historic landmark since 1968. The area was first established by railcar manufacturer George Pullman. He wanted his workers to live near the plants where his railcars were assembled, so he created an entire town for them. Today Pullman has expanded to include street after street of row houses, but the center of neighborhood life is still the original workers’ town.
